Based on 449 reviewsSan Ginés Austin is widely praised for its authentic Spanish cuisine, with particular highlights including croquetas, patatas bravas, dulce de leche churros, and a variety of flavorful dishes that appeal to a diverse palate. The restaurant's warm and inviting atmosphere, enhanced by a charming patio with fire pits, creates a relaxed European vibe that guests appreciate. The attentive and friendly staff consistently receive commendations for their service, even during busy or understaffed periods. Additionally, the establishment’s dog-friendly patio and well-crafted drinks add to the overall positive experience. Some guests note minor drawbacks such as limited parking and occasional greasiness in certain menu items, but overall feedback remains highly favorable.
Absolutely loved my experience at San Ginés. The food was delicious, the atmosphere warm and inviting, and the service truly stood out. A special thanks to Señor Encarnación and the rest of the team—they were incredibly fast, attentive, and kind, even while clearly working under a lot of pressure. Despite what seemed like a staffing shortage, the team did an outstanding job. I sincerely hope the owners consider adding more support, as the current staff are going above and beyond to maintain a high standard. Grateful for such a lovely experience—thank you again to the entire team!
If you’re looking to satisfy a Spanish food craving, this place does the trick. The ambiance is lovely and inviting, making it a nice spot to hang out. The croquetas and patatas bravas are both excellent — flavorful and perfectly done. However, I found the churros to be a bit too greasy for my taste. One thing to keep in mind is the limited parking; it can be a bit of a hassle during busy times. Overall, a solid spot for Spanish tapas with just a few minor drawbacks.
LOVE LOVE LOVE their dulce de leche filled churros are the best churros I’ve ever had! Their croquetas de jamón, and SG burger, and tortilla española were amazing. Their drinks are great too! Definitely will be coming back, still thinking about their churros
This place is a gem. Adds a very nice patio with great vibes to South Austin. At night, you order food from an onsite food truck and drinks from the bar. In the morning and for lunch, you order from the front register. I’ve tried the salmon and avocado toasts and they are solid! Sitting out on the patio with the fire pits and decor makes you feel like you could be someplace in Europe. Great spot!
So happy San Ginés opened on South Lamar in Austin. This place has a great international vibe, attentive, helpful and kind staff, a dog friendly patio, tasty drinks and killer food! I came on a Sunday for brunch and enjoyed the music, people watching and perfect weather all from the outdoor bar with our English Bulldog in tow. Shout out to our bartender, Pablo who took excellent care of us. We’ll be back as often as we can
Got to experience the paella Thursday night special event that happens every Thursday at 6pm. Really entertaining to watch the chefs prepare the paella with all the various steps in the process. Very engaging! And the finished product was simply delicious. The cold beer was a perfect pairing to the paella. Concluded that with an order of churros and hot chocolate to go. What a great evening!
You won't regret coming to this place. The service is incredible as soon as you arrive. The coffee is delicious. I ordered the Catalan. It has a lemon aftertaste that gives you that very soft citrus flavor when you try the first sip. We ordered two types of churros: one plain with chocolate and the other filled with dulce de leche. Both were delicious. The chocolate one is dark, and the dulce de leche one is a flavor that stays with you for a while. The atmosphere is pleasant, and the backyard is beautiful and spacious.
The churros were perfect! Crunchy, tasty even on their own the Spanish dipping chocolate was thick, high quality and not overly sweet. Just like Europeans do it!! The space is very cute with a lot more seating inside and outside than it seemed from pictures. People were so kind and nice! My new favorite dessert place!
